Weddings

I truly enjoy wedding photography!  Each wedding I shoot, no matter how big or small, is special to me.  Why?  Because in most human lives, there are at least three major milestones:  birth, marriage and the birth of the first-born child.  As a wedding photographer I have the privilege of being witness and historian to one of those three big events.

I have had several couples tell me that their pictures are one of the most important things happening on their wedding day -- second only to the act of getting married.  Knowing that I am providing a service that is so important to my clients and that I am being trusted with the creation of images that will keep the memories of "their special day" alive for years is something I consider an honour.

My goal is to tell your story and "capture those special moments" in a way that will bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart as you and your loved ones look back on your images over the years to come.

Using a free-ranging, portrait-journalistic style, that is a mix of fine art, fashion, photo-journalist and traditional wedding photography, I capture a range of candid and formal images in a casual comfortable style.  At times, such as during the ceremony, reception and dance I shoot unobtrusively in a journalistic style.  At other times throughout your day, I will work with you and your guests in the creation of posed portraits that have a natural, relaxed look and feel.

With my wedding photography, I like to meet at least twice with the bride and groom.  I find this really helps achieve the results you expect.  These meetings also provide a great way for us to get to know and feel comfortable with each other well in advance of "your special day."

During the initial introductory meeting, I like to get a good sense of your individual needs, ideas and wishes.  During the meeting I will show you several print samples of my work and we will discuss the style and types of images that you are looking for.  Often, I find that while many clients have a good general idea of what they want, they also appreciate receiving some creative input and suggestions that help to focus their thoughts and ensure their day is captured in a special way.

Whenever possible, I also try to coordinate a second meeting with the couple about three or four weeks before the wedding to do a walk-about of the site where the bride will be getting ready, the ceremony site and the location or locations where the post-ceremony images will be taken.  If I am shooting the reception, a quick tour of that venue is also helpful.  I find these pre-wedding walk-about meetings help give the couple a good sense of how the photography will mesh seamlessly with the flow of their day, leaving them much more relaxed and at ease on their wedding day.
