Last March, Emma and Spencer booked me to shoot there 2011 wedding. Recently we got together and took a short boat ride out to a few of the more secluded Georgian Bay Islands near my Parry Sound area studio for their engagement photo shoot. We ended up with a large number of great images and Emma tells me it is going to be hard to her and Spencer to narrow them down for the custom sign in book I will be doing for them later this year. We had a blast doing the shoot and I think it shows in the images. A small selection of the images from the engagement shoot follow.
Here’s a wee change of pace from the wedding, portrait work. Sunday evening, May 23, 2010 I have some free time, my wife Grace had headed off to do a night shift in OB at our local hospital and Georgian Bay was calling me. I grabbed one of my DSLRs, my 24-105 L, F 4, IS lens, and hoped on the seadoo. Less than a minute later I was surrounded still waters, a waining sun and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Sometimes we take for granted what we have in our own backyard! The outdoors plays a big part in Lacey and Jayson’s lives. This couple lives north of Pointe au Baril, on the shore of Georgian Bay, and they are both avid hunters and fishers. We opted to do their engagement shoot in Sturgeon Bay Provincial Park which just happens to be right across the bay from their home. It quickly become evident that these two are right at home among the rugged beauty of the area with it’s rock, trees and water. After a wee bit of coaching both Lacey and Jayson got into the swing of things and we had a great time. After we worked our way out of the park we drove to a nearby marsh where Jayson traps bait fish for their fishing excursions. Below I’ve posted a few of the shots from their shoot. I’m looking forward to meeting this couple again in few weeks when we do a walk about to select some sites for their post cermony wedding day shots this July. Knowing their passion for the outdoors and the great backdrops in the Pointe au Baril area I am confident we will find some great sites that will reflect both their passion for each other, and the outdoors.
