Allison & Steve – Parry Sound – Snug Harbor – Georgian Bay Shore Side Wedding

One of the things I enjoy most about being a wedding photographer is regularly meeting wonderful people. Allison and Steve were no exception. Early last summer I had the pleasure of working with them when they got married at their cottage, on the shores of Georgian Bay, just north of Snug Harbor.

We had a great day, and although it threatened rain, we were blessed. Instead of rain we got some absolutely spectacular looking skies that added to the rugged beauty of the spots we had scouted out during the walk- about we had done several weeks earlier.

Following the shoreline ceremony in front of the cottage we gathered up the wedding party and headed off to take advantage of the incredible surroundings for a series of striking shots. As is often the case the girls quickly removed their shoes in favor of bare feet as we made our way across the ancient granite outcrops.

Women at Work – Building Highway 11 – Sundridge, Ontario- BOT Construction

For a change of pace I thought I would highlight a few images from a shoot did early last spring for BOT Construction Group. Nancy, BOT’s executive administrator, contacted me about doing a shoot of the women they had working on the massive rebuilding of the Highway 11 near Sundridge Ontario. Nancy wanted to highlight how BOT was employing a large number of women on the site.

While doing the shoot, I was extremely impressed with the obvious enthusiasm these women had for their work. The other thing that struck me immediately was the diverse roles they were fulfilling on the site. This went far beyond the traditional flag person role. These women were driving an impressive aray of BIG, BIG equipment, providing on site health and safety oversight and much more… These girls were clearly doing it all!

Shortly after I had finished the shoot Nancy contacted me to let me know how pleased they were with the outcome and that they were using several images from the shoot in two promotional posters proudly featuring the Women at Work, building Highway 11 through Sundridge Ontario.

Lisa & Graham – Muskoka Wedding – Lake Joseph

A few months after we did Lisa and Graham’s engagement shoot we shot their wedding. We met up with Lisa as she was getting ready at her parent’s cottage on Brown’s Lake, just south of Parry Sound, ON. From there Lisa was flown to the wedding site by Graham’s father, Bruce, of Gordon Bay Marine. The CNIB Lake Joseph Center provided a great venue and atmosphere for the cermony and reception. After the ceremony and family shots we headed off down the lake for wedding party and couple alone shots. During the reception, later that evening Lisa, Graham, and I snuck away for abit to get some shots of them alone, as the sun was low in the sky, casting a magical glow over Lake Joseph. Later in the evening the live band, “Just for Kix”, regulars at “Bass Lake Road House” kept the party going on into the night.

Lorie & Dave – North Bay – Lake Nipissing Wedding

Lorie and Dave were another great couple that we got to work with in 2009. They both grew up near North Bay and now live and work in eastern Ontario. With strong ties to Lake Nippissing and vacinity, they choose a resort on the shores of Lake Nipissing for their wedding. They had an awsome day, with a shoreline cermony, followed by an ancestoral blessing that celebrated Lorie’s aboriginal roots.

In addition to an outdoor theme for their wedding, Lorie had her heart set on incorporating some barn shots into their post cermony photographs. Fortunately we located a great barn, not too far from the wedding site, and got permission to use it for some of the post cermony photo session. The barn venue worked out really well and even came with a horse! We ended up with a slew of great images. After the barn shoot we made our way back to the resort, and went into the night with the reception and dance. During a break in the dinner, Lorie, Dave and I slipped out an played along the shore line getting a great range of shots as the sun began to slip away for the day.

Lisa & Graham – Muskoka Parry Sound Engagement Shoot

Lisa and Graham are another awesome couple that I got to know and work with in 2009. In the early spring of 2009 we got together for engagement shoot near Lake Joseph in the heart of Parry Sound, Muskoka country. There was still some snow in areas and we went for a walk with their wonderful, large, and friendly dog who is in some of the shots. I will do a post on Lisa and Graham’s wedding soon, but I thought I would start with a few shots from their engagement session.

Karen & Josh – A Georgian Bay Wedding

One of the great couples I had the pleasure of working with in 2009 was Karen and Josh. Living near Parry Sound, on the shores of Georgian Bay, made having a bayside wedding a natural choice for this couple. During a touching waterfront cermony Karen and Josh mixed two colours of sand representing the coming together of two to become one. A clear sky and strong Georgian bay winds complimented the rugged location we had selected for the wedding party and couple alone shots. A small selection of shots from Karen and Josh’s special day are highlighted below. I have included the last one, where a large wave broke on the rocks at my feet giving me a quick shower while I was getting one of the group shots, to demonstrate the lengths that some photographers will go to for a shot. No, neither my gear, nor the wedding party got wet!

Andy and Rhonda – Algonquin Park Wedding

Algonquin Park has a special place in Andy and Rhonda’s hearts. Although they now live near Thunder Bay, Ontario, they first met when they both worked in Algonquin Park a few years back. So when it came to selecting their wedding site they felt there was no better choice then on the shores of Lake of Two Rivers, in the heart of Algonquin. The Park is a great venue and I love shooting there . The wedding had a distinctly outdoors, canoeing theme that was an great fit with this couples interests and life style. After the ceremony we got some great shots of the newly married couple in and around the water and then we visited the Spruce Bog Boardwalk, another part of the Park that has a special meaning for the couple. Doug & Geri – Winter Wedding Parry Sound

Doug and Geri opted to start 2009 off with their wedding cermony at a beautiful location on the shores of Otter Lake, near Parry Sound, Ontario. They worked a Christmas, winter theme into their special day and were surrounded by family and closest friends. Resort Tapatoo, now Kellerman’s Resort was the venue they chose. It provided a great setting, both inside and out for their wedding day.
